Four of six favored Big Tenteen teams advanced to the NCAA 2nd round, joined by 9-seed Michigan State; the Good Guys are the one favored team in the quintet that kicks off play at 2:40 Saturday when Wisconsin plays defending champion Villanova.
THE FIRST ROUND CURSE IS OVER. The Boilermakers advance on the backs of Vince Edwards and National Player of the Year Caleb Swanigan (yeah I said it), and have a shot at the Sweet 16 this Saturday.
Edwards might be the key to tourney success...We look ahead to the first day of the tournament and this evening versus Vermont.
Any way you slice it, Purdue needs its junior trio of Isaac Haas, Vince Edwards, and Dakota Mathias to be a Sweet 16 (or beyond) team. Kenpom and Basketball Reference did all the hard work.
