Jeff Brohm Remains A Man I Want To Play For

Jeff Brohm Remains A Man I Want To Play For

Coach Brohm spoke about Purdue football in 2018 and he's excited to start the season. I know, I'm as shocked as you are. A few takeaways...

He said last year was a success, despite the struggles in the middle of the season. Following being 4-6, the "team found a way," which is a great way of putting it.

He noted that they gained a lot from the Louisville loss and that he likes starting with tough opponents, which will again be the case this year against a ten-win Northwestern team. He also noted that when it comes to building confidence, it didn't really emerge until halftime of that Louisville game, when the Boilermakers were leading at the half in Lucas Oil:

“If you’d come into our locker room at halftime against Louisville, you’d have thought we’d won the Super Bowl.”

Coach Brohm knows the expectations are higher, but he and the team are looking forward to it -- and I don't doubt this. He said Purdue football is excited to be in the mix and are excited that expectations have risen. Hard to imagine it's not better than the zero expectations of an apathetic fan base.

He also noted that Purdue has 11 power 5 teams on the schedule and "we enjoy that."

And on the subject of Blough and Sindelar, he's open to playing both QBs but also okay if one emerges and takes control of the job. It's crazy how an uncertain QB situation can feel so rudderless under a guy like Danny Hope or Darrell Hazell....yet so completely okay under Jeff Brohm. It's amazing how much trust you wind up placing in a coach when your team looks well-prepared.
