So you're telling me it's good???
On the Knucklehead Board and on Twitter, I've heard that crappy EsPN afternoon shows are talking about the selfie-P. Good, I guess. I will agree that it's good to see our alma mater being talked about on a sporty-esque network like EsPN in the afternoon...but I'm not so sure that all publicity is good publicity as many believe. Asshats like Colin Cowherd, Stephen A. Smith and others weighing in, positively or negatively about this helmet decal doesn't do much for me either way on this argument.
If they like it, I feel like J's argument is only strengthened...if they don't, I'm pretty sure my pal wouldn't tell anyone that those clowns agreed with him.
As J said, it is unique...Good...kind of.
I design products for a living. I can tell you that not everything that's unique is good. But I also believe this most-recent attempt by Purdue's athletic department isn't awful. From 10+ feet it'll just look like a pale gold motion P; not horrible. It just smacks of what IU was doing a few years ago when Glass first became their AD...it's seems a bit like grasping at straws.
That said Fred Glass was a great hire for IU because he was willing to think out of the box...I'm not so sure that the selfie-P is a sign that Mr. Burke's athletic department is going to suddenly start trying to innovate. If it is, hats off to all involved...and keep working; you guys can do better. I think there are a ton of smart people in Purdue's athletic department. I also believe there are some really petty, not-so-bright folks within those walls as well.
Hopefully the good side wins out in the long run; we all need a win (or two).
