Computers Love Boilers...People really like them

After the RayDay-less Boilers beat two solid teams last week (one on the road, one at home), there was no change in the important human polls. BUT after the same team handled a mediocre (at best) IUPUI team at home last night, the Sagarin computer equation thought highly of Purdue...the highest, to be precise. Purdue is #1 in all of the college basketball universe this morning, according to sagarin's ranking system.

They're ahead of MSU, Oklahoma (who just beat the hell out of Villanova on a neutral court), Louisville and the most most reputable academic institution in the land for student athletes, UNC. After that, a cluster of traditional powerhouses...but for now, Purdue is numero uno, at least in one poll.

But, KenPom thinks these Boilers are pretty damned good too- they're second after the Sooner squad that I referenced a moment ago.

So where do the Forces of Good stand in the most important of all polls and rankings in a time of year in which polls and rankings are unimportant?

Purdue currently holds a BSCR of 7.2.

J and I recently discussed the fact that Purdue didn't move up this week in the coaches or media polls- My gut says Purdue is in a very good place in the polls for this early in the season. Knocking on the door of the top-10 in spite of only playing a few games with all weapons available, is noteworthy...Perhaps this isn't a season where everything lines up perfectly, but instead, the team is just talented and tough enough to fight through adversity.

Where do you think Purdue belongs right now...based solely on what we've seen, not potential or guesswork?
