Marve Will Be The Starter
In a move that should surprise exactly no one, Robert Marve has been named the starting QB for your Boilermakers as we head into practice as we gear up for the 2010 season.
I like this quote from Roberto and I hope it's as genuine as it sounds:
"Last month, I had the opportunity to meet Drew Brees, Len Dawson and Bob Griese and learn more about the quarterback tradition at Purdue. Now to have the chance to join that fraternity means a lot of me and gives me a great sense of responsibility. I am looking forward to the start of training camp and working with my teammates to have a great season."
It sounds like the kid has his head on straight and understands that he's got a real opportunity here, something of a second chance. Let's be honest -- if you get sort of labeled as a troublemaker at Miami, you might be on the wrong path. But so far, everything we've heard has been good about the guy. And also worth noting, with his redshirt season back in 2007, plus missing last year because of his transfer, Robert Marve heads into his junior year (eligibility-wise) at 21 years of age already.
