BS Summit Weekend Marred By Purdue Football

Purdue looked to open the Big Ten slate with a win against an eminently beatable Minnesota squad that refused to cooperate. Professional weirdo PJ Fleck and his skin-tight pants sprinted around like the phony maniac that he is and was probably really frustrated that he wasn’t the story tonight – his QB was. Tanner Morgan set a completion percentage record by going 21/22 for 396 yards and four TDs through the air.

The weird thing to us was that he doesn’t seem like he’s really that good of a quarterback….but he sure looked like Dan Marino out there. This defense was supposed to be a strength of this team – despite the injuries, they still need to be better than this. And Coach Brohm said so immediately following the game, remarking that this was “an unacceptable defensive performance.” Sure looks like the Brohm/Holt rift isn’t improving. From GBI:

"I am very disappointed in our pass defense," said Jeff Brohm. "I have been for a while. That’s not a passing team. We gave up way too many yards. Way too many easy completions. We knew exactly what they were gonna do and they really did nothing different. So, that’s the disappointing part. We have a lot of work to do there. … it’s kind of on everybody."

Yikes.

Not to bury the lead here, but both Elijah Sindelar and Rondale Moore both went out with injuries early in the game. Sindelar was later seen in a sling and Moore was back on the sideline, which was as good a news report as we could find at that point. More to come this week, but we’re beginning to wonder if Elijah will see the field much more in 2019. The season is teetering on being a total loss and it may just be time to look to the future.

Purdue is now 1-3 and heads to Penn State next weekend.

If you want to look for positives, Purdue did continue to fight and the young guys pressed into service responded….Purdue lost 38-31 but was down 38-17. So that’s…..something.

In other news, the BS Summit was held in Lafayette this weekend. It went about as you might expect:
