Caleb Swanigan Returns to West LaLa
Caleb Swanigan announced today that he'll be returning to the Boilermakers for this upcoming season -- his sophomore year. And there was much rejoicing in Boilermaker land. Not only does this mean Purdue has back a potential NBA player next season, but it also means a certain dumb-looking talking head in Indianapolis was completely wrong.
The Boilers will deal with the departure of AJ Hammons and so we'll surely be seeing a lot of Isaac Haas this season, but it may also mean an occasional "Lineup of Death"-style setup where Swanigan plays the 5.
Caleb averaged 10 and 8 as a freshman, so with a year of college ball under his belt, could a double-double average line be in the cards? Sure seems like it could. Is it reasonable to be excited about the potential of Purdue basketball in 2016-17? It sure is.
Said Caleb on the upcoming season:
"I know we'll be great because we lost Ray (Rapheal Davis) and A.J. (Hammons), but we bring in Carsen and Spike, and that's really what we needed was some ballhandlers."
