Purdue's Military Appreciation Day Helmets
Behold in all its glory the Purdue football Military Appreciation Day helmets for this weekend versus Wisconsin. While having a variety of helmets can provide costly for a football program, Purdue has managed to make use of their alternate black helmets by making subtle adjustments for new looks. I'm not necessarily saying Purdue is scraping the decals off the regular "tracks" black lids and adding the iridescent graphics for a few weeks ago or these red, white and blue beauties, but.... would you put it past them?
One thing I definitely like about these (and the gold counterparts) is that Purdue didn't go over the top, like certain other programs. It's a nice touch and while there are arguments that doing this actually "desecrates" the flag (you're not supposed to do pretty much anything but display the flag -- not wear it, not adjust it for uniforms, etc.), that's a strict interpretation of the U.S. Flag Code.
As part of a site with multiple members who have the U.S. flag somewhere permanently on their bodies, I find this to be star spangled awesome.
